How to Play
Overview
Hearts is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The object is to
get the lowest score. Each heart card is worth 1 point, and the Queen
of Spades is worth 13 points. In this version of Hearts you play against
3 computer players. You can go to the Options Menu and set the difficulty
level to Easy, Normal or Hard, as well as turn the game sounds on
or off.
Game Play
After the cards are dealt, you must choose 3 cards to pass to another
player. In the first round you pass cards to the left, in the second
round to your right, then across the table, then you don't pass any.
Once the cards are passed, the player with the Two of Clubs must play
that card. Going clockwise, each player must then play a card of the
same suit. If a player doesn't have a card of the original suit played,
the player can play any card. Whoever played the highest card of the
suit originally led takes the trick. Note: on the first trick, you
can not play a heart card or the Queen of Spades. Whoever takes the
trick leads off the next trick by playing any card. A player can not
lead with a heart until hearts are broken, that is, someone has played
a heart in a previous trick.
Scoring
The winner of Hearts is the person with the lowest score when someone
else reaches 100 points. After each hand is completed the points are
totalled. Each heart card is worth 1 point and the Queen of Spades
is worth 13 points. There's a special case where one player gets all
26 points which is called "Shooting the Moon." When this
happens each player receives 26 points except for the person who Shot
the Moon.
